ENVELOPE

5GBusNET. A 5G- Powered Framework for Safe and Smart School Bus Operations using ENVELOPE

use case image

5G-BusNet seeks to integrate, test, and validate the ENVELOPE APIs (preferably of the Dutch site), relying on the ever-increasing needs of school buses operation and notably, the children-passengers safety. The project will develop and integrate a software platform based on an operational SchoolBusNET (SBN) application that coordinates the buses management, exploiting 5G capabilities offered through the ENVELOPE APIs to advance the platform's 5G-networked capabilities for:

  • 5G-BusNet module A: critical bus operations [e.g., driver's health condition] video monitoring.
  • 5G-BusNet module B: sensor-based road-surface hazard affecting the students' comfort and safety
  • 5G-BusNet module C: (relative) localization and geofencing of bus-users complementing GNSS
  • 5G-BusNet module D: measurement of the 5G underlying network quantities supporting the optimized SBN operation and offering training data for involved predictions (pQoS API)
