ROS2 on 5G Embedded Systems

The "ROS2 on 5G Embedded Systems" project developed a system that integrates EtherCAT with ROS2 on a 5G-enabled embedded platform, enabling real-time control of industrial robots with low-latency and high-bandwidth communication. The project focused on creating a modular firmware for brushless DC (BLDC) motor control using the Hilscher netX90 platform through EtherCAT, integrating it with ROS2 for high-level robotic control, and leveraging 5G for remote operation and data transfer. Key technical results include the development of a remote control node using gRPC, validation on a dual-motor mobile robot platform, and extensive testing for system performance. The system supports applications in smart factories, logistics, and research, with detailed documentation for potential commercial implementation.
